José Montano

José Montano is the OG of our kids class; he’s been coaching the class since early 2021. Our kids love José and the feeling is mutual.

“I love watching these kids get stronger every week, more confident and want to do more every time they’re here.” José believes that while the kids are getting stronger and learning the technical skills of the different strongman events, they’re also learning about sportsmanship, setting goals, meeting challenges, and teamwork. “One of my favorite moments in class was overhearing one of the girls giving her friend lifting cues while deadlifting. It showed me how well she’s learned and is willing to help everyone else.”

José can’t wait to welcome your kids to our next DMG StrongKids session for ages 9-17!

ALICE GARVIN

Alice Garvin has been coaching with José in both the Strongkids class and the Brighton High School Powerlifting team for over two years. She loves working with young athletes and introducing them to the physical and mental benefits of strength sports.

“Working with kids of all ages and seeing their confidence skyrocket over the 5-7 weeks of class is such a cool experience. Not only are they learning how to lift properly and safely in a new (and sometimes intimidating) environment, but they’re learning how to work with other people, how to push themselves to an appropriate limit, and trying new things that sometimes push the comfort zone. Every week these kids get better and better, and it’s amazing seeing the returners become leaders and seeing the newer athletes develop their skills over time.”

THANK YOU, ALICE, FOR ALL YOU DO FOR DMGSK!
